How the Draft Works

Players: Usually 8 players sit in a circle.

Packs: Each player starts with 3 booster packs.

Pick and Pass: Open the first pack, pick 1 card, and pass the rest to the left. Repeat until the pack is empty.

Direction Changes: Open the second pack and pass to the right. Open the third pack and pass to the left again.

Pool: You end up with about 45 drafted cards. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Building Your Deck

Deck Size: Minimum 40 cards.

Lands: Use basic lands provided by the event to reach your land count.

Ratio: Typically 17 lands and 23 non-land spells (mostly creatures and removal).

Colors: Stick to 1 or 2 colors to keep your mana consistent.
